Lupe Ortiz

Lupe Ortiz, 82, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, March 4, 2023.  Lupe was born on August 5, 1940, in Beeville, Bee County, Texas, to the late Hipolito Villarreal and Elojia (Gomez) Villarreal.

Lupe Villarreal met Luis Ortiz, Jr., the love of her life, and they were united in marriage on June 26, 1956, in Sinton, Texas.  Mr. Ortiz preceded her in death on June 17, 2019.

Lupe was a homemaker, loved to read the Bible and pray.  She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.  She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include 3 daughters, Gilda O’Neall and her husband Bryan of Bulverde, Yolanda Saldivar and her husband Zeke of Lake Ransom Canyon and Linda Lopez and her husband Sabino of Lubbock; two sons, Luis Ortiz, III and his wife Martha of DeSoto and Joe Ortiz and his wife Peggy of Abilene; one brother, Lalo Villarreal and his wife Mary of Ft. Worth; one sister, Maryann Munoz of Irving; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, six sisters, and one granddaughter.

A time of reflection and visitation for Lupe will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, March 9, 2023, in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.  Monty Pettyjohn, pulpit minister of Sunset Church of Christ will be the officiant.  Funeral services are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Pallbearers will be Scott O’Neall, Luke Ortiz, Joshua Lopez, Tadrian Turner, Jeffrey Palmer, and Luis Ortiz, IV.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jarrett Ortiz, Xaedyn Lopez, and Steven Ortiz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Lupe’s memory be made to the Sunset International Bible Institute, 3723 34th Street, Lubbock, TX 79410 or to the Children’s Home of Lubbock, 4404 Idalou Road, Lubbock, TX 79403.
