Manuel Jesus Olivarez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, of Idalou passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 25, 1952 in Petersburg, Texas to Manuel Olivarez Sr. and Trinidad Sanchez Olivarez. Manuel was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Idalou, Texas.
Manuel married Carolyn (Flores) Olivarez on December 29, 1973 in Idalou, Texas at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Manuel was a hard worker and was never sitting still. Manuel received his Associates in Electronics. He started his plumbing career at Karl's plumbing where he worked for 6 years worked as a plumber before working for Texas Tech for 23 years until his retirement in 2021. He loved doing home improvement projects and being at Home Depot. When he wasn't working, he was spending time with his family and grandchildren, who he loved dearly.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Robert Olivarez (Valerie), of Amarillo, and Karen Litton (Jeremy) of Corinth; five grandchildren, James Olivarez, Philip Olivarez, Elizabeth Olivarez, Joshua Litton, and Ariana Litton; three great-grandchildren, Nayeli, Nayomi, and Luke Olivarez; sisters, Elidora Cardenas (Frank), Esperanza Ortega, and Seferina Duran (Tony); brothers, Ben Olivarez (Sonya), Blas Olivarez (JoAnn), Andy Olivarez (Delia), Mario Olivarez (Belinda), and Carlos Olivarez (Isabel); Sister-in-laws, Mary Flores and Rosie Marmolejo (Fred); brother-in-law, Jessie Flores (Sally); and several nieces and nephews.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Trinidad Olivarez; brothers, Miguel, Salomon, and Mike Olivarez; sister, Juanita Stockton; and granddaughter Adriana Litton.
A visitation for Manuel will be Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 3:00pm with rosary to be cited at 6:00 p.m. at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Idalou, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Idalou Cemetery.
