Margaret Ward, 81, long-time resident of Lubbock, peacefully passed away at her family home on Sunday, January 24, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret was brought into this life on April 1, 1939, in Petersburg, Texas to the late Horace Williams and Glenna (Pharr) Williams.

She married Darrell Smith on July 4, 1957 and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1968.  She then married Don Ward on May 11, 1973 in Clovis, New Mexico.  Mr. Ward preceded her in death on May 14, 1997.

Ms. Ward was a Real Estate Agent with Century 21 in Lubbock for 20 years, winning numerous sales performance awards, eventually retiring in 2005 after a very successful career.  She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, her flowers, planting, cooking at holiday times and traveling to the mountains in New Mexico.  Margaret was very family centered, especially where her grandchildren were concerned.  She was active in the March of Dimes campaign, and in helping senior citizens with their tax preparation.  According to her family, she was a perfectionist at everything she did.

She has been an active member of Trinity Church for over 40 years and was a member of the Prime Timers Sunday School Class at Trinity.

Margaret leaves behind her daughter, Kathy Webb, and her husband David, of Lubbock; two sons, Steven Smith of Lubbock, Jay Ward, and his wife, Natalie, of Lubbock; one brother, Jimmy Williams of Ruidoso, New Mexico; four sisters, Colline Rhodes, Faye Frye, Sara Anderson and Debra Jones, all of Lubbock; five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Williams, and a sister, Jo Willis.

Visitation for Ms. Ward will be Monday, February 1, 2021 at Combest Family Funeral Home, 2210 Broadway in Lubbock, from 11:00 A. M. to 8:00 P. M., with her family receiving friends from 5:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M.  On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, visitation will be from 8:30 A. M. to 10:30 A. M.

Funeral Services for Ms. Ward will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 6110 Chicago in Lubbock. Pastor Michael Page, of First Church of the Nazarene, will be the Officiant for the service.  Ms. Ward’s son, Jay, will offer the Eulogy for his Mother at the Funeral Services.

Serving as Pallbearers for Ms. Ward will be Donnie Ward, Spencer Braziel, David Webb, Brent Bailey, Travis Niebuhr and Dustin Jones.

Final rites and interment will immediately follow in the Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg, Texas under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, Ms. Ward’s family has requested memorial donations in memory of Margaret be made to The Gideons International, P. O. Box 64291, Lubbock TX, 79464.

The family of Ms. Ward has entrusted her Final Care to the Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory of Lubbock, Texas.
