Margie Bozeman

December 10, 1931 — December 14, 2022

Idalou and Lubbock

Margie Ann Bozeman, 91, of Idalou passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in Lubbock.

Margie was born on December 10, 1931 in Altus, Oklahoma to Lawrence Elender Fleming and Allie Margaret Duran Fleming.  She graduated from O’Donnell High School and married Viele Campbell “Corky” Bozeman on December 31, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas.  They moved to Idalou in 1947 and started farming.  They also owned and operated A & B Tractor in Lubbock and Ken and Corky Auctioneers with his father, Ken.  A & B Tractor became Bozeman Machinery, the farm equipment business and first and oldest salvage yard in the U.S.  They were enormously proud that their sons joined them in the family business and continued the family tradition.  They were founding members of the National Tractor Parts Dealers Association.  They were members of the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Posse and Buffalo Springs Lake Water Ski Club, supporters of the Lubbock County, Idalou, and South Plains Stock Shows, Lubbock Christian College, and The Children’s Home of Lubbock.  She was involved in the Lubbock Christian College Associates and their cookbooks and was a past president and member of the Methodist Hospital Auxiliary in Lubbock.  She is a past member of Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock.

Margie was known for being private, strong, strict, independent, hardworking, dignified, confident, meticulous in her appearance, and lived her life the way she wanted.  She enjoyed cooking, making her chocolate cake, sewing, canning, raising a garden, was a veracious reader in all books, and enjoyed going for her “hair day” appointments.  She will be remembered for being a great wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker to the family home and farm, and for raising her children.  She had great pride in her grandchildren’s accomplishments and considered all her grandsons her favorites.

Margie is survived by her daughter, Terri and Dick Laird of Springfield, Missouri, son, Vick and Susan Bozeman, DVM of Idalou, daughter in law, Helen Bozeman of Idalou, brother, Glen and Doris Fleming of Seminole, 9 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Corky in 1986, son, James “Jim” Bozeman in 2016, son, Larry K. Bozeman in 2020, grandson, Shaun Everitt Long in 2021, brother, James Fleming, and sister Vertie Wilson.

Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, in Lubbock, and the family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM on Tuesday.  Celebration of life services will be 2:30 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Venue on Broadway and interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.  Please visit www.combestfamilyfuneralhomes.com for obituary information, video tribute, and service details.
