Maria J. Cortez, 79, of Lubbock passed away December 20, 2021. Maria was born to Hijinio Jimenez and Rosa Olivarez on September 12, 1942 in Mertzon, Texas. She was homemaker and enjoyed doing ministry activities for the church in her free time.
Maria is survived by her children, Velma Cortez, Laura Cortez, Pedro Rene Cortez, and Diana Andrea Cortez, all of Lubbock; Siblings, Luis Jimenez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Paulina Cardenas of Joliet, Illinois, Francis Carrasco of Odessa, Texas, and Ernestina Ramos of Amarillo, Texas; Seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Belinda Cortez.
A visitation for Maria will be held 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2021 in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Primera Iglesia Bautista Church.
