Mary Helen Davila, 76, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born on November 27, 1949, to the late Blas and Anita (Ornelas) Mendoza in Childress, Childress County, Texas.

Mary Helen married the love of her life, Armando Davila, on June 4, 1982, in Lubbock, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2020.

She was a healthcare worker and homemaker that enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She was a devout member of Christ the King Cathedral Catholic Church.

Those left behind to honor and cherish her memory include one son, Israel Davila and wife Sandra of Lago Vista, TX; two brothers: Blas Mendoza of Kearney, NE and Robert Mendoza and wife Charlene of Gering, NE; two sisters: Delia Quintero of Plano, TX and Elvira (Vera) Tristan of Ft. Collins, CO, sister-in-law, Aurelia Mendoza, and brother-in-law, Ruben Magdaleno.

Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers: Bentura (Ben), Frank, Charlie, Lupe, and infant John Mendoza; three sisters: Angelica Mendoza, Amalia (Molly) Magdaleno and Mary Pena; three sisters-in-law, Alice, Francisca and Nancy Mendoza, and three brothers-in-law, Leon Pena, Elias Quintero and Sergio Tristan. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and close friends who were her guardian angels.

Visitation for Mary Helen will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 5 PM to 7 PM in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway. There will be no rosary recited. Mass will be offered on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10 AM at Christ the King Cathedral Catholic Church, 5011 54th Street, Lubbock, TX. Final rites and interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of the customary remembrances of floral offerings, the family requests that you make donations, in Mary Helen’s memory, to Christ the King Cathedral Church, 5011 54th Street, Lubbock, TX 79413.
