Mary Wanda Hamilton

Mary Wanda Hamilton, 94, of Levelland and formerly of Lubbock, entered into her heavenly home on Thursday morning, April 4, 2024.  She was born on January 29, 1930, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Robert Warlick and Lilly Mae (Price) Whitney.

Mary attended Brownfield schools and graduated from Brownfield High School in 1948.  She met Bob Hamilton, the love of her life, and they were united in marriage on January 4, 1953, at the Brownfield Baptist Church.  Out of this blessed union were born three wonderful children, whom she dearly cherished.  Her dear husband, Bob, preceded her in death on April 7, 2020.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker in charge.  She attended Draughn’s Business College in Lubbock.  Along with her husband, they co-owned and operated Mac’s Flowers for 20 years in Lubbock before opening their own flower shop, Hamilton Floral, in Lubbock, which they operated for many years, before retiring in 1998.   During their so called retirement, they assisted their daughter in her floral shop, Sugarbee’s Gift and Floral in Levelland whenever needed.

Naturally, she loved flowers, people in general, babies, her grandkids, her dogs and cats.  Mary always had a smile on her face, and never met a stranger.   At the age of 13, she worked for a theater in Brownfield as an usher and ultimately in the front office in ticket sales.   She loved to listen to country music, the Ink Spots, Willie Nelson and Frank Sinatra.  She was a former member of Smithlawn Church of Christ and Sunset Church of Christ, before becoming a member of The Worship Center – South Campus in Lubbock.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her children:  Debbie Servin and husband Robert of Levelland, Brad Hamilton of Lubbock, and Brent Hamilton and wife Leslie of Lindale; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Bobby Whitney, and a grandson, Rusty Bean.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services for both Mary and Bob Hamilton will be held later, with inurnment of cremains at the Levelland City Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
