Mary entered this life April 26, 1933, to Alton and Verda (Ballew) Hobdy in O'Donnell, TX. She passed from this life January 7, 2022, at the age of 88, in Lubbock, TX.
Mary grew up in O'Donnell and graduated from O'Donnell High School. After graduation, she married Billy Lane; to this union, they were blessed with 4 children, Sheryl, Steven, Kerry, and Kim. Mary became a bookkeeper after starting to work for John Halsey Pharmacy in 1970. she stayed with them, retiring from there in 2007. Mary became a member of Highland Baptist Church in 2002. Upon retirement from Halsey Pharmacy, Mary began working with Exodus Prison Ministries. She was very generous with her time and funds. Mary became known to many, as well as her family, as "Grandmother."
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Verda Hobdy; her husband Billy Lane, in 2019; a brother, Edmund Hobdy, and a sister, Donna Jean Hobdy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sheryl Cooper, Steven Lane and Kerry Lane, all of Lubbock and Kim Kelsey of Port Ritchie, Fl; grandchildren, Rachel Cooper, Sarah Talley, Robert Talley, Andrea Hammock, Monica Cooks, and Ben Kelsey; 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-children.
