Melecia Martinez, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and cherished member of her community passed away on May 24, 2025. She was born on August 28, 1936, to Pantaleon Paiz and Cleotilde Olguin.
Melecia married the love of her life Alex, May 30, 1959 in Bula, Texas. While he farmed in the local community, she dedicated her life to providing a home and nurturing her family. They remained married until his passing in 2014.
Melecia was known for her adventurous spirit and passion for traveling to find and explore new places and create ever long memories with those she loved and cherished. No matter where her journeys took her, she always came back to what mattered to her the most, family. She found true joy in spending time with her loved ones, whether gathered around a kitchen table or sharing stories and happiness on special occasions. Home was her true comfort place where she was able to provide love and care by bringing people together through each meal prepared.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her sons, Alex Martinez Jr of Morton, Texas; Charlie and wife Maggie Martinez of Lubbock, Texas; Joe and wife Betty Martinez of Lubbock, Texas; Sam and wife Stephanie Martinez of Lubbock, Texas; John and wife Becky Martinez of Wolfforth, Texas; Ray and wife Christi Martinez of Lubbock, Texas; and Jerry and wife Brandy Martinez of Shallowater, Texas and daughters, Francis and husband Bert Aguilera of Mckinney, Texas, Debbie and husband Craig Hancock of Shallowater, Texas, and MaryAnn Martinez of Lubbock, Texas along with 28 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, and 5 great great children. Those preceded in death are her dearly loved husband, Alex Martinez Sr, parents Pantaleon and Cleotilde Paiz, grandson, Alex Martinez III, sister, Sarah Gabaldon, and brother, Carlos Paiz.
Visitation will take place from 4 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Combest Funeral Home Venue on Broadway. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Combest Funeral Home Venue on Broadway. Burial will follow to Morton Memorial Cemetery in Morton, Texas.
