Michael Scott Buescher

May 28, 1970 — March 21, 2026

Michael “Scott” Buescher of Lubbock, Texas, passed away suddenly on March 21, 2026. He was born to proud parents and an excited big sister on May 28, 1970 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He moved with his mother and sister to Eunice, New Mexico, in 1973 and they lived with his grandparents. The three of them then moved to El Paso, Texas, in 1975 where his mother married the man who would raise him. The family moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1980. Scott graduated from Monterey High School in 1988. While in high school, Scott made lifelong friends. His best friend, though, remained his big sister, Tanya. She was always there for him, accepted him, and loved him unconditionally. After high school, he wanted to follow the example of his grandfather, so he joined the Navy. Scott served most of his military service aboard the USS Chancellorsville. He received an honorable discharge in 1991 as a Class Operations Specialist.

Upon returning to Lubbock, Scott began his career in the restaurant and bar industry that continued until 2024. He then worked at LBK Defense, LLC until his death. Through his work, Scott made many lasting and devoted friends.

From an early age, Scott was a history enthusiast, especially the Civil War and the World War II era. He would read and reread massive history books and was intrigued with each read. In his youth, Scott enjoyed building model planes and ships. In recent years, that hobby was rekindled and he built amazing model World War II ships.

Scott was also a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed a round of golf but couldn’t get rid of his “slice”! Life stopped on Texas Tech game days as he cheered them on. He was always a devoted Cowboys fan. In the later years, he also cheered for the Chiefs.

In October 2002, Scott married his forever love. Together they have a daughter, Addy. His joy came from spending cherished times together. They enjoyed playing games, reading, and watching movies.

He is preceded in death by his forever Dad John Nutt, maternal grandparents Lesta and Mary Burdett, sister by marriage Debra Nutt Martin, and friend Clint Stephenson.

Scott is survived by his daughter Addyson and her mother Monica Buescher of Lubbock, his mother Emily Buescher Nutt of Lubbock, his sister Tanya Buescher Howell and her husband Roy of Petersburg, his brother by marriage and his wife Martin and Jenny Nutt of Albuquerque, his sister by marriage and her husband Brenda and Leo Howerton of El Paso. As well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
