Michael Thomas “Mike” Quisenberry, of Tahoka, Texas, entered into his eternal home on February 19, 2026, at the age of 73.
Mike was born March 22, 1952 in Lamesa, Texas to the late Thomas Quisenberry and Marie (Briley) Quisenberry. He graduated from Morton High School, and planted his roots in Tahoka at the age of 24. Mike excelled at, enjoyed, and retired from a decades-long career with the Texas state highway department, TxDOT.
Mike was a gentle, unassuming man with a sly sense of humor. Mike was notoriously frugal with himself, but was graciously generous when it came to others (after lovingly picking on them, of course). Mike frequently confessed that his grandkids and great-grandkids were the light of his life, and many memorable moments will continue to be cherished by those he has left on Earth. When Mike wasn’t working or chasing his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, Mike’s passions for working on cars and trucks, recording and watching reruns of college softball, and telling stories to anyone who would listen occupied his time.
Mike was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
Mike is survived and missed dearly by his children: Sheri Gwin of Lubbock, Texas; David (Amanda) Quisenberry of Haslet, Texas; Stephen (Amanda) Quisenberry of Lubbock, Texas; Michelle (Jerry) Vick of Lubbock, Texas; and daughter-in-love Lanae Gwin of Tahoka, Texas.
Mike also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Samantha (Allen) Henderson of Tahoka, Texas; Nathan (Lindsay) Quisenberry of Burleson, Texas; Reilly (Kalyn) Gwin of Lubbock, Texas; Beal Simmons of Carrollton, Texas; Alison (Zane) Ennis of Lubbock, Texas; Mikaylee Gwin of Tahoka, Texas; Tabatha (Tristen) Johnson of Lockney, Texas; Ethan Quisenberry of Lubbock, Texas; Ryan (Ana) Scoggin of Lubbock, Texas; Paxtyn (Chloe) Gwin of Tahoka, Texas; Kirsten (Ryan) Scoggin of Seminole, Texas; Chase (Katelynn) Gwin of Clarendon, Texas; Addie Quisenberry of Lubbock, Texas; Katie Scoggin of Stephenville, Texas; Isabella Quisenberry of Haslet, Texas; and Lillian Quisenberry of Haslet, Texas.
Mike is also survived by: his bonus children James and Michelle Sullivan; his bonus grandkids Nathaniel, Thomas, Luke, and Michaela Sullivan; his beautiful 11 great-grandkids; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Marie Quisenberry; his brother Mark Quisenberry; his sister Donna Briley; his son Terry Gwin; his grandson Trey Daves; his nephew Randy Konstontakos; and his son-in-law Sean Scoggin.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the First Baptist Church located at 1701 Avenue K in Tahoka, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Terry Gwin Memorial Scholarship Fund account through UMB Bank in Tahoka, Texas.
