Milton Ray Miller peacefully passed on September 29, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. He was 78 years old. Milt was born on June 5, 1948, in Tahoka, TX to his parents, Roy Lee Miller and Eva Gertie Lindsey.
On January 30, 1970, he married the love of his life, Geneva Lou Byrd and they built a life together for 56 years.
Milton was a man who believed in hard work. He began working as a kid helping his dad on the family farm. Once he was in high school he worked at Farmer’s Co-op Gin before returning to work for his dad. Once he married Geneva, he took a job at Farm Pac in Lubbock Texas. He later earned his CDL and became a truck spotter for Furrs Distribution. Milton still had dreams of becoming a farmer and he leased and farmed a plot of land in Lorenzo, TX with his good friend Darrel Dunn. When the boll weevils ate their crop, Milton took a job at Bartley Grain in Tahoka where he drove a fertilizer rig for many years. Milton was later offered a job by his brother Ed Miller to drive a cotton burr and grain truck. He worked the gin seasons in south Texas and St. Lawrence for many years before he was offered the position of gin superintendent at St. Lawrence Co-op Gin, New Home Co-op and later retired from Muleshoe Co-op Gin. Milton passes his strong work ethic along to his children and his grandchildren.
“Fotch” was also an amazing athlete who had a passion for sports. He excelled at volleyball, softball, he loved and hated golf, he was an amazing water skier, he could stay on a slalom all day long and he loved horses. Watching and teaching his children and grandchildren to play sports was a priority to Milt, and he was an inspiration to them all. He was a true legend.
Milton is survived by his wife Geneva, daughter Tabatha Jolly and husband David of Lubbock, TX, daughter Bridget Taylor and Randy of Tahoka, TX, daughter Mandy Cook and husband Rusty of Lubbock, TX, daughter Lindsey Garcia and husband Tim of Leander, TX, and his sister Donna Brooks of Tahoka, TX.
