Nancy Callander

Nancy Jo Callander, 86, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 in Lubbock.

Nancy was born on August 31, 1936 in Dearborn, Michigan.  She graduated from Mongo, Indiana and attended Butler University.  She married Harry John Callander, and they lived in Japan, Key West, and San Antonio, while he served in the U.S. Air Force, and he preceded her in death.  She lived in Dallas, where she was involved in Altrusa International of Dallas and was a member of University Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, and then moved to Lubbock in 2000.  She enjoyed reading books, newspapers, and websites and was very knowledgeable about history events in the United States and European countries.  She was a lover of the fine arts, museums, and symphonies and reading different authors.  She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed traveling around the world with her granddaughter, Laura.  She was very proud of her granddaughter, Laura, on her becoming a nurse and her grandson, Christopher, serving in the U.S. Navy.  She also enjoyed quilting and cooking.

Nancy is survived by her 2 sons, Tim Callander and wife, Debbie, of Lubbock and John Callander of Dallas, sister, Judy Tyle of Sumter, South Carolina, granddaughter, Laura Martinkewiz and husband, Quinn, of Lubbock, grandson, Christopher Callander of Lubbock, and 2 great grandsons, Brody and Graham Martinkewiz of Lubbock.

Private family services will be held at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.  Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Combest Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Lubbock.
