Odilia Sastre

March 19, 1967 — April 26, 2025

Odilia Sastre, affectionately known to all as Odie, peacefully left this world surrounded by her loving family in the early hours of April 26, 2025, in Tahoka, Texas. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.

Born on March 19, 1967, to Augustine Rosas Sastre and Felipa Molina Garcia in Lubbock, Texas, Odie grew up in West Texas, where she forged lifelong friendships that flourished throughout her childhood and into adulthood. A proud graduate of Tahoka High School’s Class of 1985, she took on life with determination. Odie moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area with her best friend Monica, where she pursued her dreams by attending trade school, earning her CDL which allowed her to travel all over, including to California and Oregon. One of her greatest joys came with the birth of her son, Joshua Sastre, whom she loved beyond measure.

A life defined by her commitment to service, Odie devoted herself to caring for others in various roles. She completed her CNA program and worked at Lynn County Hospital, Lamesa Medical Center, Kinder Care, Community Service Help, and First Christian Child Development Center. Odie embodied compassion as she transitioned into home health care, tirelessly caring for those around her until the circumstances required care to be given to her. Her unwavering love for God and those she served shone brightly in everything she did.

Odie is preceded in death by her beloved parents. She leaves behind her cherished son, Joshua, and his wife, Alexandria Salinas, along with their precious children, Lilianna, Antonio, and Delilah. Odie is also survived by her loving siblings: Alicia Garcia and her husband Manuel, Robert Sastre and his wife Julia, Rebecca Scott, Macaria Curtis and her husband Wilford Sr., Emilia Garcia and her husband Paul, Olga Sastre and cousin, Santana Duran. She was a treasured aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and she held a special place in the hearts of countless friends, church members, and community members.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Combest Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas. A funeral service celebrating Odie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at First Christian Church.
