Ollie Spraberry of Lubbock, formerly of Brownwood, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 93, just days shy of her 94th birthday. She was born January 21, 1932 to Clarence and Daisy Billings. Ollie's life was characterized by her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her faith, and her passion for literature. A graduate of Whitharral High School, Ollie's thirst for knowledge led her back to school, culminating in her graduation from Howard Payne University in 1991 with a degree in English at the age of 59. This accomplishment symbolized her belief in the importance of education and lifelong learning, inspiring all who knew her.
Ollie's career as a librarian blossomed alongside her devotion to several churches. Married to an Air Force veteran, she and her husband, Hubert Spraberry, were often stationed in various cities—each time contributing her warmth and spirit to the church’s library. Her sweet and gentle nature radiated through her support for others, making her not just a librarian but a beloved figure in her congregation and beyond.
She leaves behind her daughter, Suzan Colvin and her husband Jeffrey of Lubbock; brother, Jimmy Billings of Lubbock; four grandchildren: Lauren Davis and her husband L.D., Lindsey Stanford and her husband Lance, Sean Teague and his wife Brenda, and Chelsea Spraberry-Tekell and her husband Stephen; and five cherished great-grandchildren: Dylan, Blake, Asher, Sterling and Raylan.
Ollie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hubert in 2003; children Sylvia Teague in 2019 and James Spraberry in 2024; four siblings: Calvin Billings, Charles Billings, Robbie Reeves, and Frankie Kingery; and grandson, Bryan Colvin.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with services starting at 2:00 pm. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Monday, February 2, 2026 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.
