Pastor Steven Wayne Shaw

Pastor Steven Wayne Shaw, age 72, of Lubbock, Texas, stepped into the arms of a loving God on November 5, 2025, holding the hand of his precious daughter, surrounded by love.

Steven is remembered as a faithful servant in ministry, loving husband, father, grandfather, and mentor. An avid hunter and sportsman, he loved his time outdoors, watching his hunting dogs, and spending time with his family. Those around him would often hear of his love for Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, quoting from his favorite movie, Tombstone, “I’ll be your huckleberry!”

Steven was born on February 1, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, to Jesse and Betty Shaw. He grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and later graduated from Lubbock High School in 1972. He then attended Gateway College of Evangelism. Steven spent three years pastoring in Littlefield, Texas, before taking over the First United Pentecostal Church of Lubbock on 38th Street and Avenue B, now Westwood Church on 87th and Upland Avenue. Steven and Kim faithfully pastored and mentored their church family in Lubbock for 45 years, growing ministries and helping churches around the globe.

Steven married Kimberly Austin on September 2, 1977, in Lubbock, Texas, and shared 48 years making memories, loving one another, and serving in ministry together. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Steven loved his time in his backyard with the love of his life, pheasant hunting, collecting items for his backyard, gardening, his bird dogs, and talking with God. He had a special relationship with God.

Steven is survived by his wife, Kim Shaw; children Joshua Shaw and wife Staci Shaw; daughter Melissa Oliver and husband Casey Oliver; grandchildren Addison Shaw, Bailee Shaw, Jayden Oliver, and Gavin Oliver; and his fur babies Scarlet, Iva Mae, and Kate.

A visitation will be held at Combest Family Funeral Home’s Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 5 PM to 7 PM. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1 PM on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Westwood Church, 87th and Upland Avenue.
