Patricia Mary Dyke, a dedicated wife, beloved mother, and cherished member of the Texas Tech community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on March 20, 1948, in Birmingham, England. Pat found joy in reading, enjoying cruises or “cruising” as she’d call it. Her caring nature made a profound impact on those she loved.
Pat was a woman of great intelligence and persistence, Pat had a successful career as a secretary in the collegiate industry, where she was employed by Texas Tech University. She committed herself wholeheartedly to her work, leaving a lasting impact on those she encountered. On August 21, 1971, she married the love of her life, Richard Dyke, followed by a memorable honeymoon in Wales.
Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Richard Dyke; son, Roger O’Connor; grandchildren, Stetson Seib, Destinie Seib, Katelynn Seib, Chandler Seib, and Reagan O’Connor; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Dyke, Kayleigh Dyke, Elise Dyke, and Callum McGinty.
Pat was predeceased by two daughters, Rachel Vickers and Susan Seib; and one grandson, Christopher Dyke-McGinty.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Pat’s life will be privately held in the near future.
