Patty Chambers has gone home, leaving us a legacy of love, commitment and service. Patty went to be with her Savior on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the age of 87 in Lubbock, Texas. Patty was a servant of the Lord using her spiritual gifts to come along side others throughout her life as a volunteer, leader, counselor, realtor and her favorite role of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Patty was the youngest of two girls born and raised in Silver City, New Mexico by Tom and Dorthy McCabe. Tom and Dot had a beautiful marriage and life and Patty was able to learn many life skills from them, including how to make a marriage work through their beautiful example. This came in handy as she had two long-term marriages with two wonderful men. The Lord was at the center of both marriages and they were fruitful and blessed.
Patty went to school at University of New Mexico where she met and married James Edwin Livingston. They had three children, Jimmy, Johnette and Lynn. They seized an opportunity to grow a family business and moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1961. This became their permanent home. They were members of Christ the King church and sang in the folk group, played mixed doubles tennis and spent time with family. They were married until his death in 1980.
Patty met and married Jesse Curtis (JC) Chambers in July 1980 after meeting at Jay Eagan’s birthday party. JC brought into the marriage his children; Tracy, Lisa, Jeff, John (and an Irish Setter named Gretchen). The two families merged into one and shared many family trips, holidays, parties, events and life. They managed to balance the diverse personalities into a well balanced family. They were married 40 years until he was called home at the age of 88. The families grew to include 2 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, 14 grandkids and 10 great grandkids (and counting!). Patty’s love for her entire family was heartfelt and meaningful to us all.
Patty enjoyed tennis, real estate, piano, mahjong, Bible studies, lunches with her ABQ group, spending time with her life long friends, and building relationships over her 63 years in Lubbock. It was a life grounded in Jesus and filled with words of wisdom for her children and friends. Her advice always started with “Did you pray about it?”. Her words will continue to grow the next generations into loving, kind, considerate individuals. What better legacy than to make a difference for the kingdom of God? She will be greatly missed but will live within each of the lives she touched!
She was fortunate after JC’s passing to spend quality time with her long time friend, Jay Eagan (who had recently lost his wife of many years). This was a wonderful relationship for Patty in her final years and we thank Jay for his kindness.
A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Patty and JC will begin at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. Light refreshments will be provided from 2:30-3:30 allowing the families to visit and greet guests. Memorial donations may be made to Doctors without Borders: https://give.doctorswithoutborders.org, Mercy Ships: https://www.mercyships.org/?form=donate, or Community Foundation of West Texas: https://www.cfwtx.org/give-now, all causes close to Patty's heart.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. ~ John 6:47-48
