Paul Walter Bean, Jr., beloved inventor, entrepreneur, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San Angelo, Texas, on March 7, 1946, to the late Paul Walter Bean, Sr. and Alyce (Schuch) Bean. He passed from this world to meet his heavenly Savior on May 8, 2025.
Paul was a legend both on and off the field. As number 26 for the San Angelo Central Bobcats, he was a football icon whose spirit and determination echoed far beyond the stadium bleachers.
A man of deep faith and infinite love, Paul built a life centered around his family, his inventive spirit, and his powerful connection to the higher realms. He was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, Debbie, and a guiding light to his four children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Paul was a beacon of strength, wisdom, and joy – a man who could make an entire room laugh with one of his unforgettable jokes, always delivered with perfect timing and heart.
As an inventor and entrepreneur, Paul dedicated his life to creation and innovation. Even in his final days, he spoke with clarity and passion about elevating human consciousness and reaching high frequencies of being. His mind was ever curious, his soul deeply connected to something greater.
Those who knew Paul will remember a man who lived with purpose and gave love without condition. He embodied kindness, generosity, and a spiritual presence that touched everyone he met. If Paul had one wish for his legacy, it would be that his name be remembered as a symbol of unconditional love – not just for his family, but for all of humanity. He was a member of Milwuakee Avenue Church of Christ.
In his final, most tender moment, Paul’s last words to his beloved wife and his son Kurt were simply, “I love you.”
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his loving stepfather, Carl Runge, Jr., his sister Alyce “Liz” Brown, and his grandson Austin Riley McCombs.
He is survived by his devoted wife Debbie, his four children: Paul Kurt Bean, Cassandra Beach (Larry), Catrina Anderson (Brian), George Bean (Jennifer), his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched with his brilliance, laughter, and boundless heart.
Debbie would like to thank Becky Bengoa and Ruth Brady, along with Bridge Hospice, for their kind heart and tender loving care given to Paul in his final days. He smiled when they sang “Solid as a Rock.”
As per his request there will be no service. His family would ask all who knew and loved Paul to celebrate a life filled with laughter, invention, compassion, and spirit. May his memory be a blessing and his love continue to resonate in the hearts of all whose life he touched.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Paul are encouraged to donate, in his memory, to the Building Fund at Milwaukee Avenue Church of Christ, 3814 Milwaukee Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79407.
Rest well, Paul Walter Bean, Jr. Your light lives on…..
