Petra Salazar of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the age of 91. She was born January 18, 1935, in Pearsall, Texas to Estanislao and Manuela (Munoz) Riojas. Petra was a cherished icon that had an unwavering commitment to truth and compassion. Her early years were spent in Pearsall before the family relocated to Levelland. As an entrepreneur, she was perpetually inspired, always nurturing great ideas that reflected her visionary mind. Those who knew Petra admired her as a gardener and baker, often making her famous coconut cream pies!
Fundamental to Petra’s character was a matter-of-fact demeanor blended perfectly with gentleness—a rare gift that allowed her to speak truth with kindness, earning her the respect and admiration of many. Her generosity knew no bounds; she embodied the essence of service, imparting to her beloved daughter, Lisa, the true meaning of giving selflessly to others.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lisa Guerrero of Lubbock; her treasured grandchildren, Sam Ramos and Sonya Garcia and husband Tony; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Sadie, Aaron, and Matthew Ramos; and siblings: Pete Riojas, Teo Torres, Catalina Garcia, Mary Gonzales, and Geno Riojas.
Petra was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-laws, John Guerrero and Tony Guerrero; grandson, Trey Guerrero; and siblings Martha, Emma, Jesusa, and Joe.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, May 1, 2026 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Funeral services for Saturday, May 2n, 2026 are pending at this time.
