Pilar Saenz Martinez

Pilar Saenz Martinez of Levelland passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the age of 66.  He was born January 23, 1947 in Floresville, Texas to Jose and Crisanta Martinez.  Pilar was an avid collector.  He enjoyed fishing, cooking and bowling and was always the life of the party.  He had a wonderful sense of humor.  Pilar went out of his way to show generosity towards others and always gave with a big-heart.

Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Sharon Cousins and husband Russell of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Nancy Esquivel and husband Mario of Dallas, and Janis Hurtado and husband Robert of Irving; three brothers, Joe S. Martinez, Jr., Alejandro Martinez, and Arturo Martinez; five sisters, Simona Rodriguez, Diamantina Ochoa, Celia Martinez, Alicia Foster, and Lenora Briseno; two half brothers, Gregorio Martinez and Eduardo Martinez;11 grandchildren, Marcus, Andrew, Austin and Allana Cousins, Christy Ibarra, Amethyst Martinez-Esquivel and Marcelina Esquivel, and Madison, Zane, Truman, and Finn Hurtado; and eight great-grandchildren.  Pilar is also survived by his former wives, Erlinda Martinez and Norma Mendoza, who took great care of him in the final stages of his life.

Pilar was preceded in death by his parents; sister, JoAnn Montoya; and brother, Arnulfo Martinez.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
