Lisa Harris Gore returned home to her parents on August 30, 2025. As the only child of JD “Sonny” Harris and Imogene Harris (Jennings), Lisa lived a blessed, passionate, and gifted life. She was smart, funny, and so loved and was gifted in giving love. Lisa met the love of her life, Glenn Gore, in high school and made it official on April 16, 1985. Their love story is of epic proportions and will live on in the beautiful family they created. Lisa lived under many mantras. One such mantras was “if I liked it and there is another color, I'll get it” as you can see in her beautiful children. She knew early on that she wanted a big family. Lisa was blessed to help over 100 children through the family's tenure as a foster family. During this time, Lisa and her husband Glenn were blessed with loving 10 as they became permanent family members through adoption or guardianship while making 5 children of their own. They also kept a few they couldn't adopt as theirs in their hearts.
Lisa was also a passionate advocate. Her entire life was devoted to helping others. She spent her life in education as a speech language pathologist in the public school system helping children and families find and use their voices. She took her advocacy to another level in recent years as she joined different Texas State level councils such as the PAIMI, DTRX, HHSC, and SMMCAC. As an Assistant Professor of Practice at Texas Tech University Health Science Center she was also very passionate about helping to guide and teach the next generation of SLPs to advocate and educate “her people”.
Lisa loved reading, collecting things she loved, but most importantly she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite sound was a baby's laughter, and this was especially true if it was one of her grandchildren. Her absolute favorite time of year was Christmas, as chaotic as a Gore Christmas is, she loved that everyone was all together laughing, telling a million stories, dad and Parker competing for the worst dad jokes, and the love that permeated the air.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sonny and Imogene Harris. She is survived by her sons Harris and wife Nelly Gore, Dalan and husband Shawn Bradley, Parker and wife Jenna Gore, Raphael Gore, Grant Gore, and EJ Gore, daughters Alexandria and husband Griffin Fauntleroy, Samantha Gore, Stephanie Gore, Latisha Gore, TyTy Gardner, BreAnna Gore, Lexi Gore, Kallie Gore, and Riley Gore, and her chosen children Josie Cruz, Andrea Cruz, and Jeremiah Granados. She is also survived by her beloved 28 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday, September 6th at 2 pm at the Sunset Church of Christ, 3723 34th Street, Lubbock, TX 79410.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Children's Hope Foster Care and Adoption of Lubbock, P. O. Box 64786, Lubbock, TX 79464.
