Dr. Raymond Louis Miller, a devoted husband, cherished father, beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Ray was born on September 18, 1939, but he would tell you that his life truly began on November 20, 1966, when he made Jesus Christ Lord of his life. From that moment forward, Ray lived a life marked by unwavering faith, boundless compassion, and a deep love for people. As a longtime pastor, he poured his heart into ministry. Shepherding others with grace and truth and he led many to righteousness through the love of Christ. His life was a testament to God's faithfulness, and his impact will continue to echo through the countless lives he touched.
He is survived by his devoted wife and partner in life and ministry, Jan Miller, who stood beside him with faith, love, and strength through every season. He also leaves behind his grateful children: his son, David Miller, with his wife Kay Miller and their four children: Renae Tovar, Autumn Martinez, Vanessa Miller, and Jaden Miller; and his daughter, Kerri Hamilton, with her husband Robert Hamilton and their four children: Katherine Hamilton, Joseph Hamilton, Ellie Hamilton, and Samuel Hamilton.
Ray was also deeply proud to be a great-grandfather, and the joy his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him was immeasurable. His legacy of faith and love continues through them and through all who were blessed to know him.
Ray will be remembered for his kindness, his truthfulness, his strength of character, and his deep and abiding love for both God and family. His wonderful sense of humor could light up any room. Whether speaking from the pulpit or in private conversation, Ray's words carried weight, wisdom, and warmth. His legacy is one of faith, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice knowing he is now at home with the Lord he served so faithfully. His race is run, his faith kept, and his reward secure.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 22nd at 3pm at Abernathy United Church, 704 Avenue D, Abernathy, Texas.
