Rex Barbour, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025 at the age of 70. Born on February 7, 1955, in Amarillo, Texas, Rex was the son of Ray and Margaret Barbour.
A graduate of Caprock High School, Rex went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business from West Texas A&M University. He built a long and respected career as a master electrician, spending part of his professional life with Patrick Electric in Amarillo. Later, Rex moved to Lubbock, Texas, where he continued his passion for the trade, working alongside his son at Amco Electric — a time he treasured deeply.
On April 5, 1974, Rex married his high school sweetheart, Dana Barbour. Together, they shared 51 years of love, laughter, and partnership. Their life was filled with family, faith, and countless cherished memories.
Rex was a loving father to Brandi and Bryan and beamed with pride when speaking of his grandchildren — Cooper, Brylee, and Elizabeth — who brought immense joy to his life. His family meant everything to him, and he will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and generous heart.
Rex is survived by his beloved wife, Dana Barbour of Lubbock, TX; his son Bryan Barbour and wife Kelsey of Lubbock, TX; his daughter Brandi Barbour and partner Julie David of Lewisville, TX; and his treasured grandchildren, Cooper, Brylee, and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha Upton and husband Richard, and Carol Keadle and husband Larry, all of Amarillo, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Margaret Barbour.
A celebration of Rex’s life will be held at 2pm Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Raintree Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory — a cause close to their hearts, https://www.alz.org/westtexas?form=FUNDHYMMBXU
