Richard Dowling, 70, of Lubbock, was born on November 5, 1954, to Richard and Loraine Dowling in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by people who loved him most.
Richard grew up with three brothers: Tom, Kenneth, and Ronald. Richard attended James Madison High School, where he was part of the high school band. He graduated in 1972 and joined the Navy after graduation. Richard went on from there and got his real estate broker license. He also sat on the Abilene Political Board. He was intelligent when it came to business plans.
Richard had a passion for helping the church community and had a loving relationship with God. He enjoyed cooking for the church, friends and family. With love and devotion, Richard help raise his three children: Donn, DeAnn, and Devene. Guiding them through life’s journeys.
In his spare time, he enjoyed attending concerts and listening to music. Richard was very kindhearted and was known to do anything for anyone. He had a reputation for being a truly good person and would give his shirt off his back to any person. People appreciated Richards warm personality and his ability to tell a good joke. His memory will forever live in our hearts.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughters, Devene and DeAnn; son, Donn Valentine; Dana Valentine and brothers, Thomas (Grace) Dowling and Kenneth (Lisa) Dowling. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ronald Dowling.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM on May 10, 2025, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway Street. Richard will be interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, May 24th at 9AM with a short service at the pavilion with the Navy Honor Guard.
