Rildabeth Wood Moore of Lubbock, formerly of O'Donnell, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on November 9, 1929, in Lamesa, Texas, Rildabeth lived a life filled with warmth and graciousness, embodying the qualities of a true friend and neighbor. She attended school in Flower Grove, a community North of Lamesa; however, she completed her senior year in Tahoka, graduating from Tahoka High School. Rildabeth’s welcoming nature meant that she never met a stranger; rather, she embraced all with open arms encouraging them with genuine compliments. Throughout her life, she nurtured many friendships, a testament to her infectious spirit and kind-heart.
A faithful member of the Methodist Church in O'Donnell and Oakwood Fellowship in Lubbock, Rildabeth was deeply involved in her community, finding joy in serving others. Her faith was her rock, guiding her actions and service. Rildabeth was a woman of many talents. An accomplished artist and dedicated seamstress, she found beauty in everyday life, channeling her creativity into Temari balls and crafts that brought delight to both herself and those fortunate enough to share in her passions. She cherished her tranquil home in Ruidoso, lovingly referring to it as her "sanctuary".
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles Elvin Moore of Lubbock and Kim Beth Buchanan and her husband Dennis of Canyon; siblings, Jack Wood of Tahoka and Hilton Wood and his wife Gerald-Deane of Lubbock; grandchildren, Charles Edwin Moore, Jodi Marie Hartman and her husband James, and Courtney Thurman and her husband Cole; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Lexington, and Chisum Hartman, and Emerson and Rhone Thurman. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she cherished deeply.
Rildabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Elvin Moore, on December 22, 2011.
Services will be at 10:30 am, Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Carillon Chapel. Graveside services will take place at 2:30 pm, Monday, September 8, 2025, at the O'Donnell Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to https://www.carillonlubbock.com/foundation/.
