Rodney Vance Harris, 85, passed away March 4, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. He was born February 15, 1941, to Otis Claude and Euma Pearl (Tredway) Harris in Lubbock, TX. Rodney attended and graduated from O’Donnell High School in 1959. In 1963, he married Jackie Charlene Tatum, and to this union, they had 2 children, Russell and Laurie.
Rodney became an assistant manager at the Friona Feedlot, later moving to Lubbock to accept a job at Lubbock Feeders as Mill Foreman. Leaving the feedlots behind, Rodney started driving semi-trucks for Brandon & Clark Electric.
Rodney enjoyed riding horses and working cattle, watching rodeo, and watching the grandkids rodeo and participating in other sports. Most of all, Rodney loved the Lord, was a Christian at heart, and was of the methodist faith.
Rodney was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Charlene Harris, his parents, Otis and Euna Harris, a brother, Slaton Harris, a niece, Tammy Harris, and a great nephew, Casey VanBeekum. Those remaining to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy are, his children, Russell Harris and Laurie Harris, his grandchildren, Riley Harris, Ryan (Kat Bigham) Harris, Tatum Hatfield, Allison and Brian Wilson,; great granddaughters, Avery Howard and Keely Harris, all of Lubbock; a sister, Sherry Pearce of O’Donnell, many nieces and nephews, and many, close, family and friends.
The family of Rodney Vance Harris will honor and celebrate his life with a memorial service at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church, 608 5th St., O’Donnell with Pastor Rod Krebbs officiating. A visitation is scheduled from 1:00pm – 2:00pm, prior to the memorial service.
The family would like to extend a special, “Thank You”, to Enhabit Home Health & Hospice, for the love and care they provided. Arrangements were entrusted to Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
