Roger Bane Nixon

Roger Bane Nixon of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the age of 59.  He was born March 7, 1954 in Pilot Point, Texas.  Roger graduated as valedictorian from Denver City High School and went on to earn his Psychology Degree from the University of Texas in 1976.  He then attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California where he received his Master’s of Theology and became an ordained Methodist Minister.  Roger served as associate minister in Dumas for one year before serving at First United Methodist Church in Wolfforth for four years.  He then accepted a job at MHMR.  Roger was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, active in Promise Keepers and took great pride being part of the Texas Exes Alumni Association.

Roger is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Noe) Nixon, and their children Emily, Elizabeth, Elaina and Caleb, all of Lubbock.  He is also survived by his mother, June (Shoffit) Nixon of Lubbock.  Roger was preceded in death by his father, Wimpy Nixon.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Luke’s Central on 45th and Memphis.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the ALS Association, www.alsa.org.
