Ron Fant, 79, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at his home in Lubbock, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on October 29, 1946, in Texarkana, Texas, Ron's journey was marked by profound dedication, compassion, and a servant's heart. A graduate of the Sunset School of Preaching in 1975, Ron went on to attain both a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Biblical Studies from Abilene Christian University in 1982, which laid the foundational stones for a life devoted to ministry. For two decades, he served the congregation at the Tahoka Church of Christ, earning a special place in the hearts of many before his retirement in 2011. During his time in ministry, Ron had the privilege of traveling the world, sharing love and faith in places such as Mexico and Haiti, furthering outreach efforts in countries such as South Africa. His warmth and willingness to connect left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered, as he truly never met a stranger; each person was considered a friend.
On September 27, 1974, Ron married Ellen McDonald in Sundown, Texas. Together they nurtured a family that included their four sons: Shaun Fant and his wife Dena of Newcastle, Oklahoma; Randy Fant and his wife Jenny of O'Fallon, Missouri; Mark Fant and his wife Dori of Lubbock; and Robert Evans-Fant and his husband David of Benton, Arkansas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Mary Louise (Bradley) Fant, along with his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Jean Fant.
