Royce Moore

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Royce (Sonny) Moore, 80, of Lubbock, TX, on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Tracy and Neil were at his bedside when he took his final breath.  Sonny was born on September 28, 1943 to Clarence and Annie (Lofton) Moore in Magdalena, NM. 

Sonny was known for his hard and honest work as a welder and building fences for many farmers around Bovina, TX and Clovis, NM.  He enjoyed country dancing til he took his last breath.  He was an excellent cattleman and known for raising show lambs for many years.  He was a member of the Ranchvale Baptist Church in Clovis, NM prior to moving to Lubbock, TX in August of 2023.  He loved watching the Cowboys and the Chiefs.  

Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Tracy Haynes; one son, Terry Moore; four sisters, Betsy Ann Autrey, Loice (Sug) King, Gaylene Owen and Carola Hambleton; two grandchildren, Donovan Powell (Bekah), and Neil Young; and three great-grandchildren, Tristan Powell, Jaxon Powell, and Olivia Powell. He was preceded in death by Annie Lofton-Moore (Mother), Clarence Moore (Father); and two sisters, Marteldia Rice and Rosetta Brannon.

A big thank you to all the Interim Hospice staff and volunteers and the entire staff at the Plaza Nursing Home for taking such great care of him.  Their care, support and dedication to him made a huge difference.
