Samuel "Kurt" Forkner

Samuel Kurt Forkner, age 45, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on December 10, 2025. He was born on October 5, 1980, in Lubbock, Texas, to Terri and Sheila Forkner.

Kurt proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant and serving from 2003 to 2010. His military service shaped his strong sense of loyalty, discipline, and unwavering commitment to others—qualities that remained at the core of who he was throughout his life.

Following his service, Kurt built a career as a welder and welding inspector, working in the trade for over 15 years. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and found true joy in building and creating through welding. It was more than a profession—it was a passion and a form of self-expression.

Kurt was a proud member of the Cosa Nuestra biker club for three years, a devoted baseball fan, and a man known for his humor, generosity, and steady presence. Often described as a burly teddy bear, he had an extraordinary ability to hold space for others—always willing to listen, help, and show up without hesitation.

Above all else, Kurt loved his family deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelbee Forkner, and their five children, Faith, TexieAnna, Sterlynn, Case, Parker Forkner, and Preslee Forsythe. His family was his heart, his purpose, and his greatest pride.

Left to cherish his memory also includes his father, Terry Forkner; brother, Jonathan Forkner; numerous nieces & nephews; as well as many friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Sheila Forkner and brother, Kenneth Forkner.

Visitation will be held from 2-7pm, Thursday, December 18, 2025, at The Venue on Broadway. Funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, December 19, 2025, at The Venue on Broadway. Burial will follow on a later date at the West Texas Veterans Cemetery.
