In the heart of Lubbock, Texas, the life of Santiago Ancira came to a gentle close on March 10, 2026. Born on February 18, 1951, in the quaint town of Lamesa, Texas, he undertook a journey rich with love, laughter, and a deep-seated commitment to family.
Santiago, known affectionately as "Jimmy" to those who cherished him, dedicated his working years as both a railroader and a truck driver. His passion for the open road was matched only by his fervent love for Harley Davidson motorcycles, which he rode with the kind of fervor that mirrored his warm and funny personality. Beyond the work he did, Santiago found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—long motorcycle rides, and the peaceful serenity of sitting on his front porch, cherishing the carefree embrace of the sunny breeze.
Those fortunate enough to know him remember Santiago for his kind and welcoming spirit. He possessed a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease, filling the spaces around him with laughter and light. His sense of humor was infectious, drawing friends and family together during joyful gatherings, especially during the holidays where memories were crafted and shared, etching indelible marks on the hearts of all present.
Santiago's legacy is sustained by his significant other, Carmen Velez. He is survived by his children: Dolores Ridgell, Stafanie Ancira, Monica Dixon, Roxanne Dixon, along with bonus children Vickie Cruz and Alex Munoz. Santiago also leaves behind loving siblings including Rebecca Hodges, David Ancira, Jerry Ancira, Gloria Escobedo, and Sussie Ancira. His rich familial tapestry expands further with fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, each carrying pieces of his spirit into the future.
While his parents, Bacilio and Dolores Ancira, alongside his children Santiago Ancira Jr. and Jared Wagner, and siblings Moses Ancira, Isaac Ancira, and Bacilio Ancira Jr. have departed from this world, their memories alongside Santiago's profound kindness shall echo through generations.
A visitation will be held at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock on March 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing friends and family to gather and share their tributes. A celebration of Santiago's life will follow the next day, March 14, 2026, starting at noon, where stories will be exchanged and love will reignite in the hearts of all those he touched.
As we bid farewell to Santiago Ancira, let us hold close the warmth of his memory—an ever-present reminder of the beauty of family, the joy of laughter, and the strength found in the bonds of love.
