Santos "Sandy" Hernandez

Santos “Sandy” Hernandez of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the age of 58.  He was born April 16, 1954 in Dimmitt and attended school in Muleshoe.  Santos worked as an insurance agent and served the people of West Texas for many years.  He was an active member of Alcoholic Anonymous, serving as a sponsor for more than 23 years.  He also enjoyed camping and various water sports.  Santos was a member of the Lions Club in Littlefield and attended St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

His memory will be cherished by three sons, John Eric and wife Nicole of Wisconsin, Philip of Abilene, and Chris and wife Morgan of Amarillo; five brothers, Gerardo and Alberto of San Antonio, Joe of Dumas, Isaias of Lubbock, and Julio of Plainview; five sisters, Dominga Cano and Delores Garcia of Edinburg, Anita Marquez of San Antonio, and Gracie Gomez and Amelia Hernandez, both of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.

Santos was preceded in death by his parents, Roberto Hernandez and Paula Lopez, and one brother, David Hernandez.

Rosary service will be tonight at 6:00 p.m., February 11th, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
