Shirley Jean Cas (71) passed away on August 14, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on June 12, 1954, to R.C. and Lilly Lorena (Watkins) Huber, in Anson, TX.
Shirley graduated from Anson High School in 1972; she continued her education at South Plains College, earning her degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, in 1981. Shirley married Claude Cas on August 10, 1979. She spent her career, as an LVN, caring for the elderly in assisted living.
Shirley was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed going on cruises with her mother and sister. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, making jewelry and lamps. When she wasn’t doing her crafts, you could find her reading a Stephen King novel, or watching Pirates of the Caribbean, or Harry Potter, or the survivor series. Her taste in music was Ozzy Osborn, Green Day, Nirvana, Prince, and My Chemical Romance. Shirley loved animals, her favorite was the Owl.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Lorena, a sister, Linda Peterson, and a nephew, Stephen Simpson. Those remaining, to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are her husband, Claude Cas, two daughters, Jeana Brawley and Johnna Gutierrez, a sister, Janice Kilgore, her grandchildren, Colton Harrison, Zaida Cantu, Anthony Cantu, Blake Brawley, Kennalea Gutierez, and Liahna Gutierrez.
