Shirley Marie (Fair) Harguess, 87, of Brownfield, TX, passed away March 3, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. She was born August 16, 1938, to Otto and Nelly Fae (Eidson) Fair, in Littlefield, TX. Shirley married Bill Harguess on February 28, 1959; to this union, they had two sons, Billy Scott and Gaylon.
In 1968, the family moved to Willcox, AZ. Shirley had a rewarding career, lasting from 1969 to 1996, with Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Co-op. At the end of her career, she was a manager in the human resource department.
Shirley enjoyed singing, playing card Games, and attending church. She loved the Lord, was a Christian at heart, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Harguess, her father and mother, Otto and Fae Fair, and two sisters, Billie Jean Cox and Arlene Harguess. Those remaining to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are her sons, Scott and Gaylon.
Scott and his wife Daina Harguess; a granddaughter, Addison Harguess; Hillary Butler and her husband Bobby, Lucy Butler, and Annie Butler, all granddaughters. And a grandson, Dillon Harguess.
Gaylon and his wife, Vicki Harguess, a grandson Dusten Harguess and wife Tasha, a great granddaughter, Tiara Jones, and a great grandson, Deegan Harguess; a grandson, Casey Harguess, and his wife Sara; 3 great grandsons, Cason Cash, Chet, and Waylon, and a great granddaughter, Jemma. Shirley is also survived by a sister, Dorthy Moore, many loved nieces and nephews, and many other family members.
The family of Shirley Marie Harguess would like to extend and special, “Thank You”, to the members of the Brownfield Church of Christ and to the friends Shirley had at Brookdale Remington Park in Lubbock.
Arrangements were entrusted to Combest Funeral Home and Crematory, Lubbock.
