Sondra "Sonnie" Mason

Sondra “Sonnie” Mason, 93, of Lubbock, was gently lifted into heaven in the early hours of Sunday morning, August 16, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on January 11, 1933, in Muleshoe, Bailey County, Texas, to the late Vance Wagnon and Janet (Crowley) Wagnon.

She grew up in the Muleshoe area, attending Muleshoe High School and graduating from there in 1951.

She met the love of her life, Clarence Mason, and they were married on December 8, 1951, in Muleshoe. Mr. Mason preceded her in death on November 10, 2023.

Sondra worked for City Bank for 20 years as an administrative assistant, before retiring in 2001. She enjoying reading and visiting with friends over the phone and corresponding via letters and postcards. She was a member of Quaker Avenue Church of Christ.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include two daughters: Linda Dunn of Lubbock and Lisa Sneed of Colleyville, Texas; one sister: Dolores Williams of Farwell, Texas, 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Ed Mason in 2015, and a sister, JoAddine Mayhugh.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Resthaven Memorial Park, with Chaplain Brandon Cruz as the officiant. Final rites and interment in Resthaven Memorial Park are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Per family wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation prior to the graveside services.
