Theresa Davis

Theresa Davis was born April 6, 1958 in Montebello California and passed into eternal life on October 5, 2025 at her home in Lubbock Texas, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 67. Theresa was the daughter of Johannes and Margaretha Boogaard who emigrated from Holland. She was the first one of their children to be born in the United States. Theresa was raised in Southern California and went to Schurr High School in Montebello.

While attending High School Theresa worked part time at a donut shop in Monterey Park, California. This is where she met her husband John, who thought she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. After working up the nerve to ask her out, John and Theresa dated for six weeks, then went to Las Vegas and got married, she was 17 years old. They were married by the Justice of the Peace on August 16, 1975, and stayed married for 50 years until her passing. During their years together they lived in Utah, California and finally settled in Lubbock. During their years in Northern California they bought property and built a cabin back in the woods and lived a number of years without electricity. Theresa was never one to back down from a challenge. Theresa was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was active doing genealogy, crafting and sewing. She was very proud of her three children, John, Michael, and Marianne. She loved all 11 of her grandchildren and was very close to her first great-grandchild “Beebo”.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 50 years, John Davis; sons, John Jr of Sioux Falls South Dakota and Michael of Pleasant Grove Utah; daughter, Marianne of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johannes and Margaretha Boogaard and her older sister Margriet Foutz of Mapleton Utah.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 17, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-day Saints, 7016 Frankford Ave in Lubbock. Anyone wanting to send flowers, please send them to 5502 79th St, Lubbock, Texas 79424. They will be taken to the church in time for the service on Friday.
