Thomas Gordon "Bo" Rather

Thomas Gordon “Bo” Rather of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the age of 79.  He was born August 14, 1933 in Tyler to Louis and Ruby (Byrum) Rather.  He married Hesta Gandy in June of 1952.   He later married Opal Rainwater in March of 1980 and she preceded him in death in May of 2003.  Bo was a self employed general contractor and a member of Smithlawn Church of Christ. 

Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Renee Rather Macdonald and husband Rodney of Arlington; two sons, Tommy Rather and wife Gwen of Belton and Craig Rather and wife Julie of Lubbock; one sister, Eloise Walker of Ft. Worth; and six grandchildren, Ryan Macdonald, Reece Macdonald, T. G. Rather, Chandler Rather, Chase Rather, and Trevor Rather. 

Bo was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dan and Wayne Rather; and one sister, Louise Morgan.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at First Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
