Tom Castillo, a beloved brother, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 30, 1955, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Tom’s journey through life was marked by his profound dedication to family and his enduring spirit. After proudly serving in the United States Marines, where he fulfilled four years of active duty and two years in the reserves, Tom moved to Florida. There, he embraced his passion for baking, crafting delightful pastries and bread that brought joy to many. In 2016, seeking to be closer to his family, he made the move to Lubbock, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of retirement surrounded by those he loved most.

Tom's education in Scottsbluff laid the foundation for a life filled with curiosity and warmth. He was a staunch supporter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a passion that became much more than a hobby; it was a bridge that connected him to his roots and the community he held dear.

Family was of utmost importance to Tom. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, cherished by his siblings: Gloria Phillips, Lucy Torres, Juanita Brock, and Lenora Castillo, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; Lupe Castillo, Susie Moreno, and Diana Santos, all of Lubbock; Frank Castillo of San Antonio; Fred Castillo, Christine Renteria, and Paul Castillo, all of O'Donnell; and Sandra Gonzalez of Grand Island, Nebraska. Tom also leaves behind extended nieces, nephews, and friends who admired him dearly.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
