Tommy Wayne Latham of Idalou passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the age of 64.  He was born September 10, 1948 in Spur to Joe Louis and Leonora (Gilmore) Latham.  He obtained his Seaman’s License and worked in and around New York City Harbors on tugboats.  He eventually made his was back home where he worked as a carpenter.  Tommy believed there was no task too difficult when it came to helping others.  In addition to his carpentry, Tommy worked maintenance at the Spur schools and was a correctional officer at the Dickens County Correctional Center.  In his spare time, he served the City of Spur as a Volunteer Fire Fighter and Chief before retiring.  He had a love for the outdoors and playing volleyball. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 37 years, Mia; two sons, Carson Wayne Latham of Slaton and William Albert Latham and wife Charli of Lubbock; two daughters, Mary Kathleen Guerrero of Paducah and Amanda Coy Latham of Idalou; brother, Robert Louis Latham of Edmund, Oklahoma; two sisters, Patsy Martin of Lovington, New Mexico and LaNell Simmons of Snyder; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marion Ozborn.

Two memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013. At 10:00 a.m. the family will celebrate Tommy's life at the First Baptist Church in Idalou. Beginning at 3:00 p.m. the family will gather to celebrate at the Spur ISD Auditorium.
