Tresia Ann Hardt was born to parents Warren Amiel Hardt & Frances Ruth (McKibben) Hardt on November 1, 1954 in Lamesa, Texas. She was the only girl of five children: older brothers - Kenneth (who died as an infant), Walter & Ronnie (both passed on) & younger brother Robert, her best friend and safe person while growing up.
The family lived in Tahoka until their parents divorced. After that, they were back & forth from Hearne, Rogers, & Bryan, TX with her mother, and Tahoka with her father, who was living with her grandmother. Outside of school, she spent most days playing with her brother Robert outside, collecting pop lids to save enough money to go to the movies, going to bother her daddy at work down at the mill, and exploring the woods in the summers down in south Texas.
Once she became a teenager, she met Jackie Ausbern down at the Piggly Wiggly. They began to date and soon were married on December 23, 1968, when she was 14. She finished school through American Schools where she received her GED. On March 13, 1971 Marita Ann was born, and on November 19, 1974 along came Douglas Wayne. Tresia loved every minute of being a mother, always wanting a big family.
Through the years, she had several jobs, at the Dairy Mart, Dairy Queen, Dixie Dog, doing farm equipment appraisals, etc., while Jackie was away in the army. They lived several places; Seattle, WA, Sulphur Springs, O’Donnell, Fort Stockton, & Slaton, TX. She also lived with Larry & Linda Owen (Jackie’s sister), here in Tahoka, until the Lord provided a home for them in Tahoka, allowing her to live somewhere that she could serve Him.
Tresia began looking for a church to raise her kids in. The first time she sat in meeting at The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, she knew she’d found the way she’d been looking for; a pearl of great prize. She soon gave her hand and was baptized on August 3, 1975.
Her husband, Jackie, passed away on August 7, 1983 in a motorcycle accident. She then raised her two children as a single mother, working as a secretary for the county attorney for 4 years.
Tresia met Tim DeVine at the 4th meetings in Parkland, OK in 1989, and married him on July 27, 1989. They lived their whole life together in Tahoka, TX at 1729 N. 3rd. On September 2, 1992, they welcomed daughter Lacey Marie and on November 17, 1995, Kristal Ruth was born, completing her family. After 29 years together, her husband Tim passed away on May 13, 2019.
Tresia had written down that she was a housewife, but she was so much more. She was a wonderful mother and friend: always there to talk, give advice, put you to work, and always up for a good laugh. She was the best Nana! Regularly having the grandkids over for a sleepover, coming up with crazy activities for them to do, playing board games, cooking mud pies in the backyard, and almost anything they wanted to do.
She loved the beautiful land that God created, loved camping with brethren in Colorado years back, loved to sing, about anything really, and especially loved the beach. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed making dinner for the brethren and having hospitality in her home. She also loved to sew, making all the kids in the church a matching blanket travel set when they turned 13.
She spent her years in service to the Lord, her family, and the brethren. If you needed anything, she was always willing to help, most often, by keeping your kids; she loved the children, especially the little newborn babies. She loved her family to be together, but most importantly she wanted us to live the faith. She always said, “Just live the faith.” Her greatest joy was when those she loved gave their hand to serve the Lord.
She passed from this life in her home on August 31, 2023. There are so many that love her and will miss her.
