Vicki Ellen Lawler

Vicki Ellen Lawler, 72, of Lubbock, passed peacefully through heaven’s gate on Thursday, December 14, 2023.  She was born to the late John and Edith (Langly) Booker on July 6, 1951, in Hobbs, Lea County, New Mexico.

Vicki attended West Texas A & M University in Canyon, Texas.  She had worked as a professional tester for South Plains College in Lubbock for over 20 years when she retired.  She sang first soprano professionally and met the love of her life while singing in the choir at Trinity Church in Lubbock.

Vicki married Donald Lawler on July 30, 1988, in Lubbock and had one son.  She loved to sing, dance and volunteer.  She poured selflessly into her family and cherished time with her grandchildren.  She loved the Lord wholeheartedly and was a best friend to all who received encouragement, support and her beautiful prayers on the spot.  Her laughter was genuine and infectious, and she loved the time spent with her friends.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, Donald Lawler of Lubbock; one son, Brian Lawler and daughter-in-love Cynthia of Lubbock; grandchildren Aubree, Wyatt and (arriving soon) Liam Lawler of Lubbock; one brother, John (Rick) Booker and his wife Sharon of Ft. Worth; one sister, Sharon L. Rue of Tyler; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ron Booker.

A time of reflection and visitation for Vicki will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Home, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock.  Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Faith Church, 3616 58th Street in Lubbock.  Pastors Stormy and Shelly Swann will be the officiants.  Final rites and interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers will be Brian Lawler, Rafael Abrego, Jesse Akins, Timothy Norris, Zachary Burns, Cody Hargrave and John Paul Perry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vicki’s favorite charity, Bethel Orphanage in Juarez, Mexico through Faith Church in Lubbock.
