Vitale "Mark" Zanchettin

Vitale “Mark” Zanchettin, 65, of Turkey, Texas, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.  Mark was born on January 22, 1958, in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas to the late Marcus Adolph Zanchettin and Peggy June (Alexander) Zanchettin.

He attended Caprock High School, graduating with the senior class of 1976.  He attended West Texas A&M University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 1980.  He then attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in vocational agricultural education.  He was the third generation owner and operator of Zanchettin Brothers Terrazzo and Tile, Inc., which he owned for over 50 years.  His son, Franco, became the fourth generation owner and operator after his father’s retirement in 2020.

He was a family man, loving husband, and loved to take care of his children and grandchildren, of which he is extremely proud.  He loved to hunt and fish and was very fond of his fellow workers.

The family related that he said he wanted three songs at his funeral but didn’t want a funeral.  Those songs were Another One Bites the Dust, Friends in Low Places and Stand me Up by the Jukebox when I Die.  He and his wife’s Angel Song was I Can See Clearly Now that the Rain is Gone.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Laura; one son, Franco Zanchettin and his wife Megan of Amarillo; one daughter, Alexandra Davis and her husband Cory of Cleveland, Texas; one brother, Kevin Zanchettin and his wife Jackie of German, Texas; one sister, Pamela Nielsen of Amarillo; three grandchildren:  Vinny Zanchettin, Maddalena Zanchettin and Connor Davis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Kim Nielsen.

A future Celebration of Life will be scheduled for the Spring of 2024.

Those who would like to donate in his memory should forward their memorial donations to the Amarillo Maverick Boys/Girls Club.
