Wayne Jenkins

Wayne Jenkins, 48, of Lubbock, was called home to be with his Lord Jesus on Wednesday morning, October 13, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 29, 1973, in Lubbock, Texas to Darrell and Beth Jenkins.

Wayne attended and graduated in 1991 from Cooper High School in Abilene.  He then attended Lubbock Christian University, graduating in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in organizational management.

Wayne met Joan Henderson, the love of his life, and they were married on January 6, 1996, in Denton, Texas, and out of this union they were blessed with one daughter, Anna.

Wayne has worked in sales management for many years, most recently working at Real Page for the last four and a half years.  He loved watching movies, home renovation and especially visiting art galleries and museums.  He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Joan; one daughter, Anna Jenkins of Lubbock, and his loving parents, Darrell and Beth Jenkins of Abilene.

Visitation for Wayne will be from 1 P. M. to 8 P. M. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Venue on Broadway, with family receiving friends from 5 P. M. to 7 P. M.  Funeral services will be at 10 A. M. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the Venue on Broadway.  Dr. Omar Palafox, of Abilene Christian University, will be the officiant.  Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Omar Palafox, Herb Kopper, Victor Henderson, Trey Welch, Jimmy Deckelman, Heath Patterson, Adam Patterson and Ben Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, the Jenkins family has requested memorial donations in memory of Wayne to Ashrei (Jenkins Fund), 800 Ave G NW, Childress, TX 79201.  Ashrei is a Spiritual Formation Center in Mexico City serving Latin American missionaries, churches, and people.  You may also donate to this cause digitally by using the PayPal account @pthemexx, or you can contact Dr. Omar Palafox via e-mail to omar.palafox@acu.edu.
