Wesley (Wes) Eugene Ninemire, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 27, 2026. Wes was born on March 11, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri to Donna Tiner and Wesley Ninemire, Sr.
He graduated from Caprock High School in Amarillo, Texas in 1964 and married his love of 60+ years, Gayle Moon, in 1965. Wes relocated his family to Lubbock, Texas in 1973 after a transfer by Southwestern Bell Telephone, his employer for 32 years. He retired from SBC in 1998.
Wes was a family man always involved with his two children Kevin & Dee Dee. Cub Scouts, Campfire, soccer, baseball, competitive swimming, tennis and camping- wherever he was needed he was there. He really cherished the hunting trips with Kevin that later included the grandkids and cheering Dee Dee on at all those swim meets.
What the grandkids remember most is all the time they spent with Grandpa & Granna at Roaring Springs. The golf cart, four wheeling, fishing, swimming, tents, camping, campfires. Grandpa made sure they had whatever they needed to have fun and make memories.
After his family, the thing Wes loved most was his "shop" where he spent many a day working on his many hobbies including welding, woodworking, and his favorite, antique car restoration and collecting "things". Wes could fix anything and had at least one of every tool it took to complete any task. If he couldn't find the tool he needed, he would just go buy another one. He loved pistol shooting and won several state and national championships.
After Gayle's retirement they bought a motor home and started traveling. After seeing almost all 50 states, they bought a winter get-away place at the Texas Trails RV Resort in the Rio Grande Valley.
Wes had a very close relationship two "special" guys in his life. Brother-in-Law, David Moon and nephew, Chuck Like. David was his right-hand man and Chuck was like another son.
Wes was a member of First Christian Church of Lubbock for many years where he served as a Deacon. He assisted with the Helping Hands ministry and helped with many other service opportunities in the church.
He is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Ninemire, his parents, sisters, Karen Rogers and Gail Callozo.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle, daughter, Dee Anna Ninemire, granddaughters, Bailey Ninemire, Madison Sitton (Robert), grandson, Justin Ninemire (Angel), great grands, Mason and Charlie, sister, Linda Wells (Alton) and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at First Christian Church on April 17th with visitation starting at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
