William "Bill" James Estes

William James Estes of Lubbock passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the age of 76.  He was born December 25, 1942 in Springfield, Illinois to William Herman and Virginia Louise (Faulkner) Estes.  Bill grew up in Illinois and joined the U.S. Navy.  He worked in the commercial heating and air conditioning industry until retiring.  He was a strong believer in the Jehovah Witness faith.  His hobbies included gambling and riding motorcycles.  As his children grew up, they would often be found spending quality time at the Roll Arena skating rink.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Bobbie Butler and husband Paul and JoAnn Austin and husband Aaron, all of Lubbock, Blu Estes and wife Yvonne of Levelland, and Evan Estes of Houston; brother, Gene Estes and wife Sharon of Aurora, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Wesley Estes in 2014.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Combest Family Funeral Homes.
