William Vance Witherspoon passed away on December 26, 2025, after an ATV accident. He was born on November 20, 2013, in Kingwood, Texas, to William Brock Witherspoon and Cecelia Lauren Sieling.
Vance was in the 7th grade at JT Hutchinson Middle School. He started reading phonetically at the age of 4 and ended up skipping Kindergarten due to his advanced abilities, attending Nat Williams and Roscoe Wilson Elementary Schools. In Middle School, he enjoyed playing on the Hutch Rangers football team and playing the saxophone in the school band. He excelled in video gaming; he was captain of the Fortnite E-Sports Team at Hutch. He also enjoyed playing Roblox and Rocket League online, and playing basketball and football in real life. His passion was going to, discussing and attending the football and basketball games of his beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders. He followed all sports, professional and college, and constantly had discussions with other interested parties about the players and teams of the NCAA, NFL, and NBA. He even created some YouTube channels discussing sports. On the ride to school in the mornings, he would often provide his father a summary of the previous day’s games like a sportscaster.
Vance is always going to be remembered as a friendly, smart, outgoing, kind, and sweet young man. He would always get compliments from teachers saying how helpful he was, and from friends saying how he would make them feel welcome so easily. It was not unusual for Vance to form a fast friendship in only an hour or two. He was beloved by his schoolmates, his teammates in basketball and football leagues, and of course by his family, especially cousins Broden and Maguire, who were like big brothers to him; and his little brother Grant, who at 4 years younger was Vance’s constant companion, and Keats, Vance’s “mini-me”, who would always receive a hug and a cuddle from his big brother Vance. To his parents, he was the perfect son. Loving and bright. He would keep the family organized and on schedule, helping with tasks all over the house to ensure the household ran smoothly, setting reminders for events, navigating maps, and making sure everyone got to the right place on time.
He is survived by his parents, Brock and Cecelia; his younger brothers, Grant and Keats; grandparents, Tracy and Angela Witherspoon; Fred and Alice Sieling; aunts and uncles, Shea Witherspoon and Amanda McKinney; Jerod Bristo; Tim and Lauren Peninger; Kristian and Jessica Sieling; Rayne Sieling; Freddy Sieling and Farrah Bernandino; and cousins Maguire, Broden, Atley, Ellis Bristo and Aiden McKinney, Jameson Peninger; Conrad, Carver, and River Sieling; and Gia, Remy, and Luca Sieling.
