Austin Glenn "A. G." Huffhines

A. G. Huffhines, Jr., 90, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 24, 2023.  Austin Glenn (A. G.) Huffhines, Jr., was born on February 14, 1933, in Dallas, Dallas County, to the late Austin Glenn Huffhines, Sr. and Marie Vesper (Armstrong) Huffhines.

Austin grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas, graduating from Wichita Falls High School in 1951.  He furthered his education by attending Midwestern University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1958.

He met the love of his life, Florence Jeanette Bragg, and they were united in marriage on June 4, 1955, in Henrietta, Texas.

A. G. was a sporting goods dealer and owner of Huffhines Sporting Goods in Wichita Falls for over 30 years.  A. G. and Florence were members of First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls.  While in Wichita Falls, he was active in the Wichita Falls Lions Club and Boy Scouts.  They moved to Lubbock in 2000 and have been members of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church since that time.  A. G. enjoyed gun collecting and target shooting.  He also loved softball, trout fishing and collecting coins.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Florence; one son, John Leslie Huffhines and wife Charleen; grandchildren:  Lindsay Huffhines (John) Robinson of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; Chelsea Huffhines (James) Duncan of Westminster, Colorado; one brother, Travis Armstrong (Betty) Huffhines of Wichita Falls, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, April 24, 2023, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.  Pastor Steve McMeans, of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, will be the officiant.  Memorial services and cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

The Huffhines family request that memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to the charity of ones choosing.
