Bill Mcglaun

Bill McGlaun, 90, of Floydada, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 22, 2022. Bill was born on April 28, 1932, in Athens, Henderson County, Texas, to the late Joseph Andrew McGlaun and Nannie Elizabeth (Shelton) McGlaun.

Bill met and married Wanda Nalls on September 14, 1956, in Kaufman, Texas. Wanda preceded him in death on December 23, 2002.

Bill attended Kaufman High School and graduated in 1949. He attended North Texas State University, graduating in 1978, with a Master's Degree in Social Work. He worked as a psychiatric social worker for Terrell State Hospital, in Terrell, from 1963 to 1987, retiring in 1987. He loved his family dearly, along with fishing, reading and web surfing. He was a member of First Street Church of Christ in Floydada. He was honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include one son, Craig McGlaun of Floydada; one daughter, Holly Calhoun and her husband Brent of Quinlan, Texas; two grandchildren, Brittany Ward and William Ward; two great-grandchildren, Logan Slater and Charleigh Slater. He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, Joe McGlaun and one sister, Mariam Keith.

A time of visitation and reflection for Bill will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2022, in the Ropes Cemetery, in Ropesville, Texas. Lawrence Allen will be the officiant for the graveside service. Final rites and interment are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Pallbearers will be William Ward, Jay Keith, Gary Compton, Eric Harkey, Brent Calhoun and Ronnie Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Bill's memory be made to the American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
