Johannes Bjerregaard

April 18, 1970 — November 2, 2022

Lubbock

Johannes Bjerregaard, 52, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. He was born on April 18, 1970, in Grenaa, Denmark to Birgit Flora (Orting) Bjerregaard, and the late Ove Bjerregaard.  Johannes met his soulmate Amber Pennington in late 2010, and married on November 14, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas.

Johannes was a loving husband and Father, a friend to all who knew him. He was a gifted musician and a creative jazz improvisational artist. His first mark in the music world, was as one of the “pioneers” of video game music composition in the early generation of home computers.

While living in Copenhagen, he continued his piano and music education at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory before moving to Texas in 2000. His music career included touring the world performing with the Les DeMerle Quartet as well as a member of the historic Cactus Theater house band in Lubbock, Texas. His skill eventually resulted in his working as Music Director for “The Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine,” while playing piano with a host of talented West Texas musicians and artists.  Johannes loved playing with the worship band, “The Grace Perspective”, at his church each week.  He and his wife, Amber, also own a music studio teaching student of all ages. Performing gigs as a team with Amber around Lubbock and the surrounding areas has been a passion for him. Johannes provided his keen “ear” and skill in acting as Engineer/Producer on many recordings for various artists from Lubbock and beyond.  In addition to music, Johannes loved food of all kinds! Experimenting in the kitchen and creating dishes for all to enjoy brought him great pleasure. He was good at everything he endeavored to do and was known for his patience and gentle spirit as well as his superb musical skill and talent.

He knew and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of The Grace Church in Lubbock.

Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Amber; children, Juni Bjerregaard Jahnsen of Denmark, Callie Jeane Pennington-Epting and Carson Jacob Epting of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Christine Bjerregaard (husband, Finnbjorn E. Anderson) of Grenaa, Denmark; four brothers, Martin A. Hansen, Soren A. Hansen, Ole Bjerregaard, Per Bjerregaard (wife, Kate), all of Denmark, Step-Mother, Kirsten Bjerregaard, and his Beloved Mother, Birgit Bjerregaard, both of Grenaa, Denmark.  He is also survived by parents David and Donna Pennington, Sr., of Lubbock; brother-in-laws, Aaron Pennington of Lubbock and David Pennington, Jr., (wife, Jennifer) of West Columbia, Texas; sister-in-law, Leesa Osborne of West Columbia, Texas. Also honoring his memory is a host of extended family and many friends both near and far.
